Support for Multi-Column, Multi-data and Sorting in Pivot table:
We have enhanced the "Pivot Table" report type with more analytical features and power. The following features have been added to Pivot table in this update:
- Support for adding multiple columns in the "Columns" field in Pivot. Till now you could have only one column.
- Support for adding more than one data columns. With this, you could have multiple data columns summarized in the Pivot grid. Very useful for comparative analysis.
- Support for powerful sorting at any column level
- You could now view the underlying data of any data-point in the pivot (similar to Charts). Clicking the link that appears on mouse-over the data-point will show up the underlying data.
With these features, Pivot tables provides you more power and flexibility.
Zoho DB & Reports provides REST style Web APIs over HTTP. With this API, users/developers can extend their hosted as well in-premises applications to push or pull data into or from Zoho DB & Reports for powerful analysis and reporting.
The API allows you to:
- Add data into a table in Zoho DB & Reports database
- Modify data in the Zoho DB & Reports database
- Bulk Add/Update data into a table via CSV file.
- Bulk Update with criteria support.
- Bulk Delete with criteria support.
- Export data and Reports in various formats such as CSV, JSON, PDF,HTML,IMAGE

Automated Analytics:
Now Zoho Reports can automatically analyze the data that you have and generate relevant reports for your use. Zoho Reports does an intelligent analysis on the nature of the data and applies heurisitcs to arrive at a useful set of reports.
How to invoke "Automated Analytics"?
Currently when you import data from a .CSV,.XLS,.TSV or HTML files into Zoho Reports, after successfully completing the import, you will be prompted with the Dialog asking whether Zoho Reports could Auto Generate reports for the data imported. If you choose 'Yes', then Zoho Reports will automatically analyze the data imported and generate relevant reports for your use.
The reports will be generated in separate folders, grouping them logically based on the type of the report generated.
In the near future we will be providing options to invoke Automated Analytics from different context on the data that you have in Zoho Reports. Stay tuned...

Folders and Reports Explorer:
We have rolled out Folders support along with Reports Explorer in this update. User could create folders within a reporting database and organize their reports in a logical manner.
To enable better navigation we also support a 'Explorer' tab which provides a detailed view of each report and tables present in a database. The Explorer tab will be the default one that would be shown when you open a database. This tab cannot be closed.
Highlighting features of Folders include:
-
Support for creating Folders by the database owner. Folders could also be created by users who are present in the DB Group of that database.
- "Tables & Reports" will be the default folder created. This cannot be currently deleted or renamed
- You can create new folders using the Create New Folder option seen in the top right corner of the Explorer tab
- You can move reports across any folder using the Move Folder option that would be shown in the menu that pulls out when you click on the options icon which appears on mouse over over each report in the Navigation tree or Explorer tab.
- When you share a report under a folder, the folder will also appear to the shared user. Within the folder only the reports shared to the user will appear to him/her.
- Apart from folder based organization, we also support Group By Related Views and Group by Report Type. This two options would be listed in the drop list on the top of the Navigation tree seen on the left.
- Currently only one level of folders could be created. Folders within Folders are yet to be supported.
Auto Number:
We support a new data type Auto Number. This is useful if you require a column to contain auto generated incremental numeric values, which are unique. This would be helpful when you need to have a unique identifier associated to each row/record in the table.
Auto Number features:
-
Auto Number column value starts with 1 and each new value will be incremented by 1.
- Auto Number values will/should always be unique
- If data is imported into the table with the auto number column in it, the following will be done by Zoho Reports:
- Verify whether the values are numeric (not decimals)
- Verify whether all the values are unique (if not the import will be aborted)
- Zoho Reports will find the maximum value for the column in the data imported. Then for any subsequent row addition Zoho Reports will add maximum value + 1 as the next auto number.

Embed Interactive Chart:
Till now when you embed a chart into your web application/blogs/website, Zoho DB & Reports will generate an Image, which gets embedded. The embedded chart will just be an image without any interactivity i.e. you cannot view details of a point on mouse over or see visual highlight of the point on mouse over or view underlying data on clicking a point in the chart. Still Zoho DB & Reports will keep the embedded chart image updated with the latest data as when you refresh the web page in which the chart is embedded.
Now Zoho DB & Reports also provides an option to embed a chart with interactivity enabled. Follow the below steps to embed an interactive chart:
-
Select the Chart that is to be embedded
- Click on "Publish -> Embed in Website/Blog..." menu in the toolbar
- A share dialog will popup with options
- Select the radio button "Embed as Interactive Chart"
- Set the necessary options listed below (Width, Height, Theme, Toolbar)
- Copy and paste the code snippet given in the text are below into your web page/blog where you want to embed the chart.

Scheduled Periodic Import of CSV files:
Zoho DB & Reports can now periodically fetch data in CSV format from any accessible Web URL. This would be really useful in scenarios where you have new data being published or updated periodically and you would like get those updates inside Zoho DB & Reports for reporting and analysis. Till now you had to re-import this data manually into Zoho DB & Reports, every time an update is available. Now you just have to setup up the periodic import feature and Zoho DB & Reports would do the rest for you.
Zoho DB & Reports Integration with Zoho Creator - Step 1:
Using the Scheduled Import feature you could also (enable Zoho DB & Reports to) periodically fetch data from your Zoho Creator Application into Zoho DB & Reports as changes happen to the same. As the latest data is made available inside Zoho DB & Reports, you could create any type of powerful reports with it. The reports created using Zoho DB & Reports could also be embedded back inside your Zoho Creator application using the new HTML Page view feature introduced in Zoho Creator 3.0

Query Table - Auto Refresh:
So far when you create a Query Table based on an SQL (Structured Query Language) query, the data in the Query Table (resulting from the execution of the query) would be re-fetched only on users manually clicking the Refresh button in the Query Table UI. What this means is, when the data in the underlying tables queried keeps changing, the query table data will not be automatically synced up to reflect the changes. This also makes the reports created over this Query Table remain stale or old till the user refreshes the Query Table manually.
We have removed this limitation with this update. From now on, the data in Query Tables will always be current reflecting all the latest changes done to the underlying tables on which the query is executed. No need for manual refresh by the users any more.
Charts - Data points highlighting for better visualization:
To enable better visualization and analysis of charts, we have provided 3D highlight effect on data points in the graph. When you move your cursor over any data point in the graph, we will now highlight the corresponding point/bar/pie slice in 3D for better visualization. In the case of line charts, the corresponding line will be highlighted to stand out from other lines plotted.
Also when you move your cursor over the legend values, all the corresponding data points plotted in the chart for that legend value, will be highlighted to differentiate it from the other data points.

Hide Data Type icons on the Table headers during Embed :
We have now added an option to hide the data type (/column type) icons displayed in the table header, when you embed the same in another web page. You can do this by checking/unchecking the option "Include Data Type Symbol" in the "Publish -> Embed in Website/Blog" menu option of the corresponding Table or Tabular View to be embedded.

More intelligence & convenience for designing Chart/Pivot/Summary views:
